These are boxes that will fit inside each other. Each box is a cube. The box size ranges from 14 mm to 96 mm for a total of 42 boxes. The lid size ranges from 16 mm to 98 mm, for a total of 42 lids. If you stacked all the boxes, it will be 2310 mm tall.
You can nest all 42 boxes inside each other if you don't put on the lids. The 42 lids also nest inside each other. If you put the lids on the boxes, you must skip every other size for a nesting of 21 boxes and lids. With the set of 42 boxes and 42 lids, you can make 2 sets of nested boxes/lids with a depth of 21 boxes each. You can use this for the ultimate prank gift box.
The OpenSCAD source file is included, so if you want, you can make more than 42.
The smallest box is 14 mm and then the next box is 16 mm, etc. incrementing each box size by 2 mm. The wall thickness is 0.8mm, so there is a gap between each box of 0.2 mm. This gap seems to work well; allowing each box to slide into the next larger box. However, if your 3D printer makes a slight mistake, you may need to lightly sand the outside edges of a box with a sanding block so that it will slide smoothly into the next larger box. The lid size is tuned for a nice compression fit. To help keep track of all these boxes and lids, the size is printed on the floor of each box and lid. Each box's matching lid is 2 mm larger than the box size. For example the 14 mm box uses a lid of size 16 mm.
Three *.stl files are provided. One is 42 boxes. The second one is 42 lids. The third one is a set of 21 boxes and 21 lids. If you use these *.stl files, use your slicer to split the model into separate objects.
Three corresponding *.3mf files are provided with the numerus objects spread across multiple build plates in increasing order of size. These 3 *.3mf files have slicer adjustments that are tuned to work well.
