A composable hex shelf for a desk to organize small objects and have something that looks cool. The sides are made from a wood strip connected with 3D-printed junctions; the model can be freely arranged and made as large as one likes. Each junction has a hole for optional accessories (I made a support for my earphone and a small dish to place small things on) or buttons to give a splash of color.
The length and width of the wooden strip are not fixed (I have used 100 mm x 50 mm in the pictures), so the individual cells can be made bigger or smaller. The junctions are designed to work with wooden strips of 5 mm thickness, but it can be changed by scaling their size in the slicer.
Printing and Assembly Suggestions
Using a 5 mm strip the entire model should be stable and relatively sturdy without any glue. The wooden strips should make a nice interference with the junctions, but it's best to make a test print of one and adjust the scale if needed for the fit. After getting the tolerances right, it's enough to slot the wooden strips into the junctions and build the shelf. There are two types of junctions: double and triple. The double junction is used on the external perimeter of the shelf, while the triple junction is used on the internal separation between cells.
