Update 4/12/20
Changed objects scale from 10:1 to 1:1. Added 19mm elastic strap buckle.
This respirator mask is based upon the "N95 Open Source Respirator Mask" by martial media dated 3/24/2020. I added a second filter and changed the nose opening. The filter is a 2-1/4" cotton round used for cosmetic care and found in most cosmetic department including Walmart. The mask is printed flat and then heated with a hair dryer and bent into shape. The mask portion is printed with PETG filament while the other parts may be printed with a filament of your choice.
After printing the mask I heated and bent the mask vertically along each side of the nose line such as to create a nearly 90° angle of the sides. Next each side of the upper nose tabs are heated and bent downward in order to close the space between the mask and the face. Then the chin to face joint is heated and bent upward nearly 90°. The chin section is then heated and rounded to come up on each side to reach the panels. About 1/4" of the chin ends are heated and bent flat and upward to overlap the inside of the side panels as these are "superglued" to the side panels to form a completed chin section.
I have included two mask files. One file has the profile of my nose and the other file is a blank so one may make a profile to fit their nose. I have included a template file to facilitate making a custom fit. To use this template, print it out and then cut it out and bend and tape it together to provide a template. Hold the template up to your face while looking in a mirror and mark the area to be removed. Then cut out the areas to be removed and repeat until you get good fitment. Once this is done, you may use this template to customize the nose area of the printed "nonose" file.
The nose seam is heated and bent such the "V" comes together and is "superglued". Also this seam and the two chin points are "hot glued" to close any openings.
This is still a work in progress and is not finished. I just wanted to get it out there for anyone who might have a need for one. I am temporarly using rubber bands to hold it in place but will be changing to an elastic strap as soon as I get one.
A small amount of foam weather seal tape may be used in the nose area to seal any air leakage.
Note: This design allows for the wearing of glasses while in use.
