Over time, two of my IKEA HEKTAR lamps had become damaged at the base of their poles. As a result, they were no longer standing straight and had become quite unstable, especially while cleaning off the dust.
Unfortunately, last year there was a shortage of these particular lamp models at IKEA, making it impossible to simply replace them with new ones. Determined to find a solution, I decided to take matters into my own hands and DIY a solution to fix the lamps with a practical 3D print.
After careful consideration, measuring and planning, I came up with this first iteration of the fix for the HEKTAR lamps. I tried to make it look industrial, but not too far off the design of the lamp itself.
To guarantee a secure fit, I made the model intentionally very snug, so it would clamp to the lamp pole and secure it in place by redistributing the weight of the pole into the wide base of the model keeping the pole straight. Additionally, I incorporated holes in the design to accommodate M3 nuts and bolts as an extra reinforcement. This way, I could provide additional stability and strength to the lamp, ensuring it would hold over time.
There is a side vertical cut in the 3D model, allowing enough space for the power cord to be pulled through it seamlessly.

For the initial print, I used Prusament PLA, the only filament that was available at that time. Remarkably, even after 6 months of continuous use and cleaning/dusting, the 3D printed fix held up well. However, I acknowledge that printing it in PETG or another strong material would be an even better choice to ensure long-term durability.

Moving forward, I'm excited to observe how this 3D printed fix continues to hold up over time. I'm open to making further improvements to the model as needed, for a more reliable solution, or a more refined look.
I hope this fix will help other people to increase the longevity of their HEKTAR lamps too.
Update: After 1 year and about 6 months - the lamp is still standing with this fix.
