Super simple way to hold the stock fans. The fans are oriented for max surface area coverage.
The part cooling fan is face down and will pick up warm air from the bed helping to lower warping of parts by lowering the temperature difference from extruded plastic to air flow.
Super simple and easy to mount. Mount bracket first before fans for easy access to screws. the long slots make it easy to adjust the height.
There is no guard to stop little fingers touching things. I've tried other popular fan ducts but my engineer mind dislikes all the bends and channels people try to put on the fans that drastically lower their efficiency. These kind of fans are not designed to have interruptions or changes in direction to the airflow, so I wanted to go back to basics and this will work great. Slightly better then the stock fan cover except for lack of finger protection, but its lighter and more efficient. Just make sure when you mount it that the part cooling fan is higher then the nozzle tip to avoid hitting things.
- Printed in 2 hrs with 30% fill at 80m/s.
- use supports, touching bed only.
- used bridging in Cura.
- I printed mine in PLA (its all I have).
- 0.2mm layer height
- 3 walls/bottom and top layers
Please note this is my first 3D printed project I personally designed and an unrefined version. I'm sure I will tweak this in the future.
