This boardgame is called Mancala!
Please print "colored parts 1" in a different color than “colored parts 2”!!
This model is sized to fit on 25 x 25 x 25 cm printbeds, you could try sizing it down, but I don't know what will happen then!
Game for 2 players!
Assembly
Assembly is very simple:
- Remove any supports
- Put the colored inserts in like this and glue those to the box:

- Put 4 balls in every pit (except for the big ones).
- Start playing! A small explanation is given under here, for a more detailed set of rules search online. I really like this explanation: https://www.scholastic.com/content/dam/teachers/blogs/alycia-zimmerman/migrated-files/mancala_rules.pdf
- To store the game, put on the lid, to play, put the lid under the Mancala board.
History and information
Mancala is a traditional board game played in Africa, the middle east and certain parts of Asia. The game is about a thousands years old and it has many regional variations. Its name is derived from the Arabic word "naqala," meaning "to move."
Game Components
Mancala typically consists of:
- Board: A shallow, oval-shaped board or a rectangular one with two rows of pits (or holes) on each side.
- Pits: Each player has a series of small pits, usually six or seven, along their side of the board.
- Stores: At either end of the board, there are larger pits (or stores) where players collect their captured seeds.
- Marbles: Players use small stones, seeds, or marbles, typically starting with a specific number in each pit (commonly four).
Objective
The objective of the game is to collect more seeds in your store than your opponent by strategically moving the seeds around the board.
How to Play
- Players take turns selecting a pit and dividing its seeds into pits in a counter-clockwise direction (that means that the marble can also end in the opponent's pit, in that case they can use that marble).
- If a player's last seed lands in their own store, they get another turn.
- If the last seed lands in an empty pit on the side of the player whose turn it is, they capture the seeds in the opposite pit (of the opponent's). (As shown on the gif)
- The game ends when all pits on one side are empty, and the player with the most seeds in their store wins.
