When I was a kid learning to play the violin, my teacher used construction paper to create several discs. A full disc represented a whole note, while two half discs represented two half notes. Much like slices of a pie, these discs helped me understand the values of basic musical notes.

I created this 3D model for a friend who teaches music at an elementary school.

Just like in math, there are fractions in music too!
