I saw the original design by Dave and immediately decided to print it. But it wouldn't fit on my printer (ender5) – the base was too big.
Since the idea was so simple, I figured I'd see if I could remix it using things I had around – namely some ¾" electrical conduit left over from my MPCNC. The part that goes around the drill is unchanged from the original design, and you'll want to get the STL from there.
The “axis” of this press is based on the original design, but I added round holes at the end that are 24mm inside diameter. A piece of ¾" conduit has an outside diameter of 23.5mm, so it's a nice snug fit without much play at all.
The feet are pretty simple supports to attach to a piece of scrap wood, or in my case the top of my sawhorse most likely.
I did have to print a collar to make my drill fit in there snugly. I didn't post the model for it because it seems unlikely it would be useful to anyone. It's really just a ring that is about 12 mm high, and tapers from 45 - 42 mm inside diameter.
I printed these parts out of PLA with the following settings:
- 0.28mm
- 55% gyroid infill
- No supports
I used OpenSCAD to design the feet, and to modify the “axis” from the original STL.
