For 3D-printing in plastic, the more robust rectangular cleat is highly recommended. For simpler milling in aluminum, the square cleat is available.
These are designed to be surface-mounted using #8 or M4 flat head screws in five countersunk holes. For safety, be sure to use all five mounting holes. I used #8 1.5" sheet metal screws into softwood and they've held up fine to a stress test at maximum weight (154lbs or 70kg).
Best practice would be to orient the rectangular mount so that the long tapered edge is opposite the direction of the rope. That is, if mounting low (e.g. bicep curls), it should face downward, and if mounting high (e.g. tricep pushdowns), it should face upward.

The STL files are already oriented correctly for optimum printability and strength; do not reorient.
