Show your school pride by printing yourself an ashtray with a fancy “A” in it. An “A” that totally doesn't have any specific reference to any specific sports team. Just a good ol' fashion “A.” Unrelated, it's probably best to print this in some sort of red; maroon, ruby, crimson, brick, carmine, vermilion, crimson, burgundy, cardinal, crimson. The choice is yours!
This is also a potential torture test for your machine. I created a textured bottom for the print to make sure it doesn't slide as much, but this proves to be nearly impossible to print without supports. The downside is, if you print it with supports, it'll be near impossible to remove those supports. Good luck!
Print Instructions
- Layer Height: 0.20
- Infill: 15% or higher
- Walls/Perimeters: 3
- Filament
- PLA if you only want to use it for decoration. You can use it as an ashtray, but you'll want to increase the number of walls and top layers. Then, in post processing, use a temperature resistant epoxy or enamel spray paint. A few layers should give it enough protection from falling ash, but it won't put out anything burning. Do not store outdoors in hot weather. It WILL melt.
- PETG should prove to be more temperature resistant, but will still need to provide a protective enamel/epoxy.
- PC, Nylon, or ABS would be best, though I have not tested these.
Warning
This is a larger print than what may be necessary. The overall diameter is 6" (152.4mm), but should be perfectly scale-able to whatever size you'd like. Just be aware of this before you print.
