I decided to try something new. This scale model has been in the works since December but I've just gotten around to finishing it. I'm proud to say that this is 100% my design, including reference footage. Unlike my other models, there are no pieces that are specifically colored, so you must find reference pictures to paint it. Also I do not recommend scaling it down since the tips of the wings and the bill could end up being too thin, but you can still try. I have included the blender files so it can be modified if desired. When printing the head, make sure you have good cooling as the last bit of the bill can get a little melty. Also print the legs foot down with 100% infill for strength. Good Luck!

Here is my general procedure for post-processing and painting, if you are interested.

1) De-burr mating surfaces of parts and sand on a flat surface to remove any imperfections or residue
2) Assemble large parts like body segments first using either superglue or epoxy. Keep in mind that superglue will bond the parts instantly, leaving no time for adjustments. I recommend putting only a dot of glue in the middle. That way the parts can still be twisted apart if not aligned perfectly the first time, then follow up with more around the perimeter. If using epoxy, parts must be kept in place until fully cured.
3) Using 220 grit sandpaper, smooth out layer lines as much as possible. This may take a few hours, (and hurt your fingers). Some cervices may be difficult or impossible to reach, so just do your best. It may help to fold the sandpaper strips back on themselves to sand wing feathers and the tail.
4) Glue the remaining parts and apply Milliput, or similar filler material around the seams. Once cured, sand smooth.
5) The painting process is more of a subjective process, and I am by no means a master at this. I’d recommend getting a few good reference images and plan out color transitions with pencil. If your model is mostly monochromatic (like the magpies), use spray paint and mask off patches with masking tape. Otherwise, just use acrylics.
6) Add the eyes last. They may require a little force to get in.
