I broke the screw on my cable chain trying to remove it. The print carriage is too hard to replace so I was looking for a quick fix. There are several options out there but they all have problems over time. This one was designed quite tall to give the cable chain clearance over the Y-axis rods. Earlier versions sagged from the weight on the chain so the diagional support was added.

If there is interest I can make a shorter design that is closer to stock chain height.

Printing

If you print with the door closed then this should be printer in a higher temp material such as ASA or ABS. The one in the pictures is printed in ABS-GF.
Mine is printed with 4 walls and 40% infill for strength. There is actually quite a lot of force on the cable chain, especially at high speed and acceleration.

Fitting

Snip the zip tie and remove the original spring block. Take care not to drop and lose the two springs hidden behind. The cables are moved slightly to the left but the opening is the exact same size as the stock block. Spacing between the zip tie spots it also the same as original. Make sure to loosely fit the zip tie before final screwing down the spring block. Be careful to seat the springs correctly before fitting, using the original screws.
