Is your hot tub area, deck, gazebo, or cabana missing a place to set down your drink?

Each cup on this stately double cupholder is 80mm wide at the base and flares to 100mm wide to accommodate cans, bottles, shaker cups, tumblers, vacuum flasks, cups with handles, and smaller wine glasses (coffee mugs too, but keep temperature and print material in mind). Includes beveled drainage holes for condensation or spills.

Idea

Our hot tub has seating for 8, fully shaded, prime view of the patio flatscreen on game day... and zero cupholders. I designed and printed this cupholder (in Inland Marble PLA) because I wanted a solution that could:

• Hold any drinking vessel one might need on a chilly fall evening or sunny summer afternoon
• Mount to the column next to the hot tub
• Matched the sculpted marble-pattern aesthetic
• Avoid looking like a minimalistic 3D printed gadget

Suggested print settings

• Resolution: 0.2mm
• 3-4 walls (1.2mm-1.6mm)
• Infill: 10% (cupholder), 20-40% (mount)
• Supports: only for dovetail overhangs on Cupholder Body
• Print Cupholder Mount standing up

Notes

The cupholder and mount fit using two dovetail slots with 0.2mm of tolerance for a press fit (depending on your printer). Try printing Dovetail Test 1A and 1B to test your settings. For a tighter or looser fit I recommend tweaking Horizontal Expansion on the Mount (Test 1A) side.

Max weight capacity: untested, but with 3 walls/10% infill I loaded it with 20 lbs with no issues. Two large drinking vessels are unlikely to exceed 5 lbs.

If your cupholder will be installed in an area that gets sun, UV-resistant materials like PETG, ASA, or nylon are recommended.

The cupholder fits on any 220x220mm print bed, and even prints on 180x180mm mini beds if turned 45 degrees!
