Spiral Cones apparently are “the next hot sh1t” in 3D models, everyone needs one, everyone prints one, not everyone models one.
Here's my 2cts - mainly because I (as others) have been intrigued by these models and wanted to find out if I could model my own. I could, here it is.
What's different to others found online?
Not so much, but …
- No sharp corners. Helps with printing and the two parts slide easier
- I put a fillet on all surfaces (chamfer on the bottom),
again, helps with printing, prevents stringing, avoids sharp tips (which tend to break once finished) and makes for an overall nicer look - modeled for easy printing on even basic machines
Print settings: 0,2mm layer height, 2 walls should suffice, no infill, no supports. I recommend to print the inner core in vase mode (saves plastic, you may want to step up the wall thickness to 0.8mm - even a 0,4mm nozzle can handle that).
The tolerance is modeled to 0,3mm for the full size model, depending on the fine tuning of your machine sizes down to 70% will still work just fine.
There are three models provided, differing in height, one is already mirrored if you prefer to have the spiral run clockwise (you can mirror everything in your slicer if you need the other models in a different orientation).
