I needed to put up some small shelves, but just before I went to go buy some shelf brackets, I realized I should just design and print some instead. 3D printing is a perfect opportunity to make unique decor that's more to my taste than what I can find in a store.

I recently visited Barcelona and had a look at a lot of Gaudi's architecture, which I must admit is not my favorite but nonetheless, he was clearly a genius. As much as most of his work looks overwrought to me, there are aspects that are very innovative and beautiful and the complex curves seem to call out for the advent of 3D printing.

These brackets are inspired by a small part of his Sagrada Familia, where he used intersecting hyperboloid windows. It is quite easy to make hyperboloids in OpenSCAD since they are conic sections.
