Lasts are used in shoemaking to stretch leather into shoe forms. Athletic lasts like this one might be used to make many shoes and a lot of research, design and testing goes into their precise curves and dimensions. They define the all important "fit" of a shoe. Anyway, its a cool form. If you wanted to be a shoe designer you could scale this file up, hack it into pieces print it out and use it to start making patterns.
