Tile rack for Rummikub game.

In the picture, notice the two racks in the front are not using the stand, it works fine laying flat on table. The rack in the middle of picture has one optional extra row added to it, and the remaining racks hold 28 tiles and use the included stand. Add as many middle rows as you need to make the rack bigger.

The 200mm version was only needed if using the rack to replace the OEM rack from store bought version of the game. The factory game has slightly wider tiles then the printed version of the game. This extra 10mm allows space to hold 7 OEM tiles on each row.

This rack replaces the tile rack I made a long time ago. We play this game often, but the original rack has too many parts, takes too long to assemble, and is pretty fragile.

This version lays flat, no assembly required (at game time), is very sturdy, and fits nice in our Rummikub game bin, when only using the top and bottom sections.

7 printed game tiles from my original project will fit on each row of the 190mm wide rack.

However, I was asked if the rack would work with the store bought version of the game. We tried it out and 190mm was about 5mm too small for the factory game tiles. So I added a 200mm wide version that will hold 7 of the slightly wider OEM tiles.

What is the reason for an optional middle section? My original rack holds 35 tiles, and this was intended to be a replacement for it. Plus my print bed was too small to print the whole thing together. By accident, I discovered we didn't need the middle section, but I kept it in the project incase someone else wants it. The middle section is like a leaf in a table, except you can add as many "middle rows" as you want.

In the end, a 28 tile rack should work fine for us. We have different rules for 2,4,and 6 players. When it is just my wife and I, we'll simply use two 28 tile racks each, we sometimes went over the 35 tile capacity of the other rack anyway. Plus, with the extra middle row, the rack doesn't fit in our Rummikub bin and you can't take it apart....

IMPORTANT: Because of the way the H-Key pulls the teeth of the sections together, once you get the key installed, you probably won't be able to take it apart without breaking the rack. So you need to decide the number of rows you want in the rack before inserting the locking keys.

TRAVEL TILES, I did not test this, since we like the bigger tiles, but I suspect printing this rack at 30% of its normal size, should be right for the travel sized tiles. It would be great if anyone can confirm this.
