Summary
Here is a cat toy; a hollow sphere containing a few bells and decorated by piercing the walls with cat images.
My daughter's cat likes it although like most cats it happily chases almost any ball. The cat image comes from MaakMijnldee's cookie cutter collection - thing:35495. Other images are included in the openSCAD code.
The sphere has a pentagonal opening; the lid is printed separately and attached with acetone or glue after the bells are placed inside. The bells came from a craft store and are often called "jingle bells". I used the half inch size
Instructions
Both the body of the sphere and the lid need to be printed with external support.
Animals_dxf.zip has to be expanded and available to the openSCAD code when it is executed. It holds the cat dxf file and other images.
The openSCAD code produces both parts at once as an stl file with two shells. I used MeshLab"s "Select Connected Components in a Region" command to separate the two shells. The lid has been scaled by a factor of 1.015 to better fit the opening.
The openSCAD code includes instructions for generating the toy as a single shell without the opening.
