This model is for a TPU strap that holds skis and poles securely together. No extra hardware, no assembly, just the TPU. I printed mine in TPU 95A.
Carrying all the gear I have to carry between me and my kids, I was needing a solution to keep the gear from falling out of my arms. Looking into solutions already on the market, I was determined not to pay exorbitant prices for cheap plastic, so of course I decided to design my own. I was also less than satisfied with some options of existing printable designs out there that did not fully secure the poles into the strap. My design criteria was this:
- Must be able to print on most printers (even smaller ones)
- No assembly required. Must be usable off the print bed
- No supports
- Must fully secure the poles so they cannot just pop out
I had to try a few different approaches but finally landed on V3. Trust me, V1 and V2 are not worth posting. I'm open to making further updates based on feedback. I haven't done extensive testing but the few times I have used it have been successful.
I do want to mention that I recognize there's quite a long bridge in the model at the top of the openings. My printer handled it just fine, I anticipate yours will too. No supports needed.
When I used this I realized I could slightly tripod the setup because the poles are strapped in. That was a bonus find. See picture.
I have used just one strap per set of skis/poles, but some may enjoy using 2 per ski setup to keep the poles better locked in.
