The Sine Sponge is a very strong and interesting structure. It's the graph of a mathematical relation that repeats itself from minus infinity all the way to infinity. If you substract that graph from 3D space, you get the identical graph (just offset by a little bit). Not only can it be used as a cool decoration. Due to its strength it's also a great shape for the infill in other 3D prints. To lower the amount of supports needed, I recommend printing the model on its side.
The formula of this shape is sin(πx)+sin(πy)+sin(πz)≤0 for x, y and z from -4.89 to 4.89.
Math Models are graphs of mathematical relations that you can 3D print to bring them from the world of mathematics into real space, getting cool decorations. You can also download the stl files and use these models as part of your own 3D model.
A total of 8 models will come out over the course of 7 weeks, with the first two models having come out both duing the first week. Every Wednesday from June 3. until July 15. you can expect a new Math Model to be released.
