Mechanical claw - push rod clamp
I. Source of inspiration
Relying on the linear drive of gear and rack combined with the structure of connecting rods and push rods, it is suitable for driving with the SG90 micro servo motor and is specially used as the end-executing grasping component of small mechanical arms. The structure is compact and simple, which is not only suitable for classroom demonstrations of mechanical transmission principles, but also can be directly used in robot science and innovation projects.
II. 3D printing process
The shell, clamping jaws, and push rods are made of PLA materials, and the gear and rack are replaced with PETG materials to improve their wear resistance and lifespan. A clearance of 0.3mm is left at the gear engagement point, and a fitting allowance of 0.1mm is left at the connecting rod hinge hole. There are no large-area overhanging curved surfaces, and only small arcs are added in some parts to provide simple support, making the molding process less challenging.
III. Structure and assembly
The steering gear drives the gear to rotate, driving the rack to make a linear reciprocating push rod movement, and synchronously pulling the two side clamping jaws to open and close through the connecting rod; the fully enclosed housing protects the transmission parts from being easily clogged by debris. A standard installation hole is reserved at the rear, and the curved clamping jaws are suitable for stable grasping of a variety of small parts.
