Your latest raider cosplay a little...dull? Feel like you need a...tip?
How about a set of lightweight, con-safe spikes?
These are meant to mount through a layer of EVA foam, leather, fabric, whatever, with a dab of glue. Posts are grooved to help hold more adhesive. You might even be able to friction-fit them for later removal as tolerances are deliberately tight - so tight it's possible the stem might break if you do! You have been warned.
Each spike is labeled L, M, or S and takes a coordinating stem.
Some Tips (ha)
Do not print in PLA! The end result will be far too brittle to survive a con, especially the stems. (Or if you really trust your PLA and where you're mounting these, do whatever, I'm not your dad.) I've used PETG with acceptable results.
Bed adhesion! You can try without, but brims are highly recommended, and Style 4 probably won't work without them. Slow down your first layers (and as you approach the tips) and use every other dirty trick you have to keep them in place.
Styles 1 and 3 have a neck/riser with an overhang at the top. If you're struggling with getting these to turn out cleanly, try splitting the model at the top of the riser, or add a little on-model support.
Also, if you scale a spike up or down in size, remember to scale a stem by the same dimensions!
A Disclaimer
I cannot actually guarantee these spikes will be accepted at YOUR particular con. If it has a reputation for being overzealous about prop and costume check, blunt the tips a bit with a file or sandpaper before painting.
I'd love to see your makes! And if you found these models useful, please consider buying me a coffee: ko-fi.com/V7V0SM5I5
