This is a mod which makes it easy to print the original SRT Gearbox v9 by Lebois and the Sequential Lockout mod by Anthoneuh.
The changes are:
- Split the body into two halves
- Added pins for alignment when gluing together
This results in a very minimal support footprint (even smaller than the original) and enables a print which is less waste if something goes wrong. Basically your printing each of the large bodies in halves.
For me this results in a print I can do much quicker print speed - as there is bare minimal support, reduced complexity & still endup with a far cleaner print.
Rotate so the body is flat part down (will rotate the models in a later version).
*.2 layer height
- 6 walls (5 with 1 bonus wall every layer is an option I am experimenting with)
- 25-30% infill
- Standard supports (std -or- tree is fine, but everywhere) above 85*angle
Optional (but recommended bonus technique)--- I suggest dropping 'dots' or mouse-ears in each of the sharp corners of the design. I intend to add this in a new version of the mod later; but for now I just do it in the splicer. It helped avoid warping due to the sharp corners. You can scale these up, I use 40mm x 40 mm x 0.4mm (so two layers worth) and they stopped the warping + are easy to remove without leaving marks. Just put them in the sharp angled corners on the bed, see my pics for clarity.
