Another Bird Feeder
Description
Springtime and another bird feeder, French style, easy to print and assemble.
You will need to print the following parts :
- The roof : either in 1 part (if your printer's bed is 256 x 256 mm or larger) or in 2 halves diagonally on the printbed. The roof has a small footprint on the printbed so a brim or raft will help.
- 2 sides (15% infill is fine)
- 1 table
- 1 ridge-inside
- 1 ridge-outside (use tree-supports here)
- 2 sets of roofborders A and B
Other tools / supplies :
- Some superglue (especially if you print the roof in 2 halves).
- 8 M3 bolts 5 or 6 mm long to attach the roof to the sides.
- 4 M3 bolts 15-16 mm and 4 M3 nuts to mount the table between the sides.
- 2 M3 x 20 mm bolts and nuts to assemble ridge-inside, roof and ridge-outside
- 8 M3 x 5 x 6 brass inserts.
- Soldering iron, screw driver, superglue
Instructions :
- Print all parts
- Install the 8 inserts in the sides (see picture) using a soldering iron.
- Mount the roof on the sides using 8 short M3 bolts.
- Install the table between the sides using the 4 M3 x 16 mm bolts and nuts.
- Glue the roofborders A and B to the roof sides.
- Mount the ridge-inside on the underside of the roof and the ridge-outside on top of the roof and insert the 2 M3 x 19 mm bolts and nuts to keep all 3 elements together.
- Insert a strong rope or wire in the ridge-outside openings.
- Add some seeds, nuts etc. on the table.
- Hang the feeder out of reach of cats, squirrels etc.
Enjoy !
P.S.
I discovered that some LARGE birds landed on the feeder as well (pigeons, crows, ...). If you want to exclude these larger birds at the feeder there is a solution :
Print 4 bamboo-holder parts and install two 5 mm x 23.5 cm bamboo sticks (see picture)
