YABH – Yet Another Backpack Hook

A simple but very practical tool: a backpack hook/handle that lets you hang your bag almost anywhere — bus rails, table edges, or any horizontal bar.

This design came from a real problem: carrying a heavy backpack for long periods, especially in public transport, where you often need to hold it in your hand.

This hook solves that by:

• letting you hang the backpack instead of holding it

• providing a more comfortable grip handle

• reducing strain on your hand during long use

Print Orientation (Important)

Print on its side for maximum strength.

This aligns layer lines with load direction and significantly improves durability.

Print Settings

Recommended:

• Material: PETG

• Walls: 99 perimeters (effectively solid)

• Nozzle: 0.4 mm is fine, bigger is probably better

• Layer height: 0.2–0.3 mm

• You can turn off the top and bottom layers for uniformity

Maximum Strength Setup

If you want extreme strength:

• Print on side

• Increase line width:

  • 0.8 mm nozzle → 1.0 mm line width

  • 0.4 mm nozzle → 0.8 mm line width works well

• Use overheated PETG (~255°C)

• Disable cooling

Optional post-processing:

• Place the part in boiling water and let it cool slowly in a hot oven (annealing effect).

At this point, the hook will likely be stronger than the fabric it holds.

Extra Tip

• Fuzzy skin works great:

  • improves grip

  • adds a nice tactile texture
