This is a OO scale model of an LNER sand wagon. These were used to transport and store sand for locomotives

I glued the sides and ends together round a base made from a double layer of foamboard, into which I embedded a 10mm nut to add weight to the model.
I fitted wheels bought from AliExpress and glued the two halves of the chassis together, ensuring that the wheels rotate freely. Once the glue had set, I reinforced the join with cross pieces of thin plastic. For a smoother ride, enlarge the wheel sockets using a 2mm drill, fit "top hat" brass bearings (from Dundas Models) and use metal wheels.
The roof is covered with paper printed with a rusty grey metal texture from https://www.textures.com.
painted with acrylic paints. Transfers from HMRS. Finished with matt varnish and weathered using powdered pastel crayons
