I came about this idea as a way to mount some equipment in one of the fire department trucks. It's an older truck with a decent flat surface.

A parametric OpenSCAD model that creates mounting tracks compatible with RAM Tough-Track systems. Perfect for creating custom mounting solutions for cameras, phones, tablets, GPS units, and other devices on ATVs, boats, trucks, workbenches, and more.
Features:
- Multiple sizes available: 3", 6", 7.5", and 8" track lengths
- Precise T-slot dimensions: 10.5mm narrow opening, 16mm wide base, 4mm total depth
- Optimized for real hardware: Tested with RAM-style mounting components
- Flathead screw mounting: Countersunk holes for flush #10 flathead screws
- Strong construction: 4mm thick top layer prevents breakage during mount insertion
- Closed ends: Better structural integrity and finished appearance
Sizing:
- 3": 120mm long, 6 mounting holes
- 6": 197mm long, 12 mounting holes
- 7.5": 229mm long, 14 mounting holes (fits most 230mm+ printers)
- 8": 254mm long, 16 mounting holes
Print Settings:
- Layer Height: 0.2-0.3mm
- Infill: 20-30% for strength
- Material: PETG or ABS recommended for durability, PLA acceptable for light duty
- Supports: Support Enforcers Everywhere with automatic painting
- This has worked the best for me. It doesn't pack infill where it's difficult to remove.
- Orientation: Print flat on bed
Customization: Simply change the track_size variable at the top of the OpenSCAD file to "3", "6", "7.5", or "8" to generate different lengths. The model is fully parametric and can be easily modified for custom applications.
Hardware:
- Compatible with standard RAM or similar mounts
- Mounting: #10 flathead screws (not included)
- Tested with 16mm × 2mm mount bases
