Product Description
This is a scratch-resistant tool head cover/fairing designed specifically for the Centauri carbon fiber 3D printer. It has been carefully optimized to combine lightweight and high-strength design. Although its name may seem a bit mundane, it originates from the brilliant star in the Centaurus constellation - and this fairing is a follow-up to the original factory fairing andSE3D DesignThe third scratch-resistant protective cover that was launched afterwards.
So, why should you choose to print this protective cover?
In short:It's more lightweight than other solutions, yet its strength is still excellent. Even if I use it frequently, I don't have to worry about damaging the shield:
Main advantages:
- It weighs only 95 grams, which is much lower than the 99 grams of the SE3D protective cover and also lighter than the original protective cover
- It uses a conical positioning pin combined with magnetic suction fixation, which does not rely on printing tolerances to achieve a stable and non-loose connection, ensuring a firm and smooth installation.
- The design of the thin shell surrounding the sliding table and the consumables cutting arm has been eliminated, effectively avoiding the risk of deformation or breakage caused by weak structure.
- The reinforced tendon design endows the protective shield with excellent rigidity and bending resistance. When printed with ABS material, the front protective shield is almost impossible to bend, and it will never be damaged even after long-term use.
- There are no thin and easily damaged parts to obstruct the airflow, ensuring better cooling effect of the components and a significant improvement in heat dissipation efficiency.
- The design of the pre-installation point is ingenious. Even if a slender support rod in a certain part of the protective cover breaks unexpectedly, there's no need to reprint the entire protective cover. Just replace the damaged parts and it will be as good as new.

Extruder for star-shaped objectsAs well as the original extruder, it has a wide range of applications and can meet the needs of different users.
To intuitively feel the reliability of magnetic fixing, I can easily pull the gantry crane just by the shield itself:
Materials list:
- The screws used by the original manufacturer for the front and central fairings/protective covers. It is optional but recommended to replace the three flat-head screws with M3×12 countersunk screws, although this replacement is not mandatory.
- 2 M3 machine screws with a length of 6–8 mm, or 3 mm self-tapping screws
- 8 disc magnets with a diameter of 6×3 mm
Printing and assembly guide:
It is recommended to use ABS material for printing, prioritizing a four-wall structure and setting 5-6 layers for the top and bottom shells. I used 50% adaptive cubic infill, but any infill rate between 25% and 50% can achieve ideal results. Please be sure to disable the support function - all necessary supports are built into the model and do not require additional additions. It is recommended to use a layer height of 0.2 mm during printing.Note: The built-in support may not be sliced correctly under the traditional wall thickness generation mode. If you haven't set the "Spider Web" wall thickness generator as the default option, please be sure to enable this function:
- First, remove the built-in support of the yellow part. It can usually be easily removed without much effort.
- Embed magnets into the four red-marked holes and stick four more magnets into the corresponding grooves on the rear shield. Before sticking the magnets, make sure to check the magnetic polarity carefully to ensure that all parts of the shield can be assembled smoothly!
3. Follow the steps in the diagram to complete the installation of the fan: Insert the stopper into the holes on the fan from the back, and the side with a notch should be inserted into the lower hole so that there will be no interference when the fan is inserted. In addition, I have also specially launched a version that removes the decorative round groove design on the front, and optimized the built-in support. The new handle design makes the disassembly process more convenient and worry-free.
