The CR-10 V3 sensor bracket is, to say the least, useless because the angle it makes with the spool and the extruder is generating a lot of friction.
I already solved the problem with a previous model to relocate the stock sensor.
This model is a rotating bracket for the Smart Filament Sensor v2.0 (SFS) from BIGTREETECH (BTT).
A previous static version also exists.
This bracket is used in combination with the spool holder mod.
I also made a spacer/shoulder for the fittings, because the small piece of tubing acting as a washer for the fittings didn't do it for me.
BOM
To use the bracket you need:
- 1x 625ZZ bearing (same as from a POM wheel)
- 3x M3x6 CHC screw (for the plate, included with the sensor)
- 1x M3x20 CHC screw (for the clamp)
- 1x M3x10 FHC screw (for the bearing)
- 2x M3 Hu nut
- 2x M4x10 CHC screw (for the extrusion)
- 2x M4 M washer
Note: The original sensor was basically an endstop with three wires, the SFS v2.0 has both an encoder and a micro switch, so it requires four wires and possibly an adapter for the harness or the intermediary board if you want to use them without bypassing everything.
And mounting it so far away from the extruder requires the runout distance to be tweaked to avoid false positive when the extruder is moving from the outside to the center of the gantry. For my application I use FILAMENT_RUNOUT_DISTANCE_MM 18.
