I use magnets in my builds occasionally and that means that I need to keep track of polarity when I'm matching up pairs. Looking online, all I found were a lot of larger magnet sticks and tools that were designed to keep the magnet at some distance for a reason I don't quite fathom. Well, I'm trying to learn Fusion so this is a good chance for me to see what I can do!
I didn't bother worrying about supports since the South holders are the only ones that really need it and the use is minimal. For me, tree supports removed beautifully and the tolerances were nice and tight. YMMV based on your printer and filament, of course.
Assembly is nearly self-explanatory: if you're into that sort of thing, determine the polarity of your first magnet by hanging it from a thread and determining which side points to magnetic north. Otherwise, pick a magnet side arbitrarily because the only thing that matters is making sure that polarities match up when applying magnets in your project. Use a few drops of superglue in the cap and around the lip of the tool base and then stick your oriented magnet into the tool body. Apply the cap and let dry. After a few minutes, take your second magnet and align it with the tool you've already created and place the second magnet in the other tool. Glue as before. You should now have a couple of magnets that attract each other as in the photo.
The models included are designed for round magnets of the 8x2mm and 6x3mm sizes.
