Idea:
The main idea for this project was to modify the IKEA Nissafors cart and extending its functionality, by adding a wooden worktop and upgraded caster wheels with brakes.
Worktop components list:
- 1x solid wooden worktop (400x800x20mm);
- 8x M4 inserts*;
- 8x M4x14mm bolts*;
You can use any other worktop material or size, just make sure the rest of the components will fit your needs. If you want to speed up the assembly process, you can use wooden screws instead of inserts and bolts, just make sure it will fit your worktop thickness.
Caster wheels components list:
- 4 caster wheels with brakes;
- 4 M10/M11 nuts.
I include parts to fit M10 or M11 threaded stem caster wheels, however M10 stem is preferable because it fits the inside of the cart tubing, increasing the overall connection/part resistance.
Print instructions:
In order to print these wheel adapters with embedded nuts, you will need to pause the print at the last layer of the nut pocket.
Extra:
I've mounted 2 flat metal bars with 5mm of thickness in order to create a solid support for the worktop. This created a 5mm gap between the wood top and the cart so I include 2 extra brackets with a 5mm clearance. To fill the middle gap I also include some spacers.
