The idea
A while back, I bought four Neopixel panels, each with 64 WS2812 LEDs. I wanted to build a simple clock that would also show the temperature and display other text with special effects. I initially built the clock by duct—taping the panels together, but it only lasted a month before eventually falling apart. So, I figured a sturdier 3D printed solution would be better. I also wanted to change the layout and build a 2×2 (16×16 LED) square. I found many great models that would suffice, but I realised I’d have problems if I wanted to add more panels in the future.
So, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and after some revisions, I came up with this model. The panels themselves aren’t exactly square — two opposing sides are a millimetre shorter than the other two, making it an awkward rectangle. This fixes that issue and also aligns the LEDs better.

With 4 panels I was only able to create some simple shapes. I'm looking on buing some more in the future to create an even bigger display. Idea is, if I get bored with what I'm looking at, I can just unscrew a few bolts and rewire the thing to build something new!



Assembly
The panel modules can be held by 2 (max. 4) small M2 self-tapping screws. The ones I used are 10 mm long and fit perfectly.
Depending on your configuration the amount of bolts used to combine these panels will wary. One side of the panel has holes for 2 M4 bolts, best 15mm in lenght.

Wires can be routed through the openings in the mounts, which helps keep cable management cleaner. There’s also a bit of space above the panel near the connecting pads. I recommend adding some horizontally soldered pin headers to make rewiring easier.
I've printed these with PLA. Single mount takes < 1 hr to print (on my old Ender 3).
