It's a jar. It has a lid. It is threaded. Oh yeah, it is configurable.
This is part of my journey of learning CAD (using OnShape), you can configure height/width/thickness, etc using the configuration values on https://cad.onshape.com/documents/623c3dfdf3d3bfd761da002a/w/6ada7a1b94e9986595cb6b71/e/4444a1052707d6b1b9f9f846. OnShape is free to use, but you do need to create an account if you want to copy the design or change the configuration
The default configuration can print without supports, but depending on what you change, you may need them.
The configurations:
- Jar base squared length: The length of each side of the square (the round lip diameter is derived from this in the Calculated Variables folder and the variable table)
- Shape transition height: You can stylize the transition height from square-ish to round
- Lid catch lip thickness: The thickness of the lip catch at the base of the mouth
- Jar catch lip height: The height of the lid catch at the base of the mouth
- Jar lip mount height: The distance between the jar catch lip and the top of the mouth
- Jar wall thickness: The thickness between the outside and inside walls of the jar - also affects the lid thickness
- Thread thickness: The thickness of the threads for both the mouth of the jar and the lid
Calculated/Derived Variables:
- Jar_Container_Height: The height of the container from the base to the lid lip. Derived from the lip height - lip thickness
- Jar_Shape_Transition_height: The height of the transition start from the squared shape to the circular shape. Derived from the Jar_Container_Height - Shape transition height
- Jar_Lid_Lip_Diameter: The outer diameter of the lid lip. Derived from the Jar base squared length
- Lid_Outer_Diameter: The outer diameter of the lid. Derived from the Jar_Lid_Lip_Diameter + Lid_Catch_Lip_Thickness + 4mm for some tolerance
- Lid_Inner_Diameter: The inner diameter of the jar. Derived from Jar_Lid_Lip_Diameter + Lid catch lip thickness
The attached STL/STEP files have the following configurations set as the defaults (all sizes are mm):
- Jar base squared length: 100
- Shape transition height: 10
- Lid catch lip thickness: 2
- Jar catch lip height: 100
- Jar lip mount height: 15
- Jar wall thickness: 2
- Thread thickness: 2.25
