The top allows for the soap to remain dry and drain into the lower base portion of the dish. The base features a lip that allows the drainage to avoid the wall of the shower or sink, so as to not have to deal with soap residue on your tile. 

The soap dish is 100mm deep (back to front) measured from the edge of the lip to the back of the base, 95mm wide from left edge to right edge and 20mm tall.
