Move your printer display to where you want it

With this modification, you can place the control box wherever you want and still have access to the display and control button.

Remove display

Open the control box, remove the current display cable and the display. Put the new longer cable in place in the control box, pull the cable through the hole in the control box where the display were.
There is an stl attach to print a cover plate that fits where the display was in the control box.

I printed this in PETG, but any hard filament should do.

Assembly

I have a Wanhao i3 v2. I'm not sure if Wanhao has used the same display on all subsequent models. I suggest you print the back plate first and check if it the holes and the connector on the display circuit board aligns with the plate. If it does, I believe you are good.
The stand (feet parts) are optional.

Ideas for the future

One idea I have is to attach a magnet on the back plate and another where I want to have it mounted. This way it's easy to take it down and use it "hand held" and then put it back on the magnet when finished fiddling with it.

Maybe you want support in the nut countersinks. If printed in PLA I doubt you will need it.

M3 nuts - 4 pcs
M3 22mm - 4 pcs (2 pcs if you use the stand parts)
(M3 26mm - 2 pcs if you use the stand parts)

Cable - IDC 10 pin cable

I believe there is a limit to the length when it will not work anymore. I have an 80 cm long cable, and it works perfectly.
