Sadly, shortly after the debut of the TurboJet, 8-Ball Airlines folded due to poor ticket sales.
But their loss is your gain! Now you can have a TurboJet of your own!!
Build Notes:
The main tube is BT-80. I used what I had left over from other projects, which was 147mm. You might want to go longer for stability.
The inside tube is from a roll of Aluminum foil. Specifically Reynolds Wrap Heavy Duty 50 Sq/Ft, but other kinds may work too. It's about 30mm in diameter, so you could use the motor tube for a 29mm motor, though the parts are sized for a thicker tube, thus a thinner inner diameter. That tube is almost the exact same length as the outer tube, maybe a little shorter. I lined the parts up once printed then marked the inner tube where I wanted to cut it. You want the retainer pretty much flush with the inner fins on the fin unit and the nosecone just about flush with the fins on the intake.
The motor can is for 18mm motors (Estes A, B or C) but should also accept Aerotech 18mm single use motors...maybe. I didn't have one to test with but I did design it with the necessary lip.
When all was said and done the motor tube was a tad long, so I made the "Spacer" piece to take up the slack and glued it to the top.
The top of the motor tube has a small hole for screwing in a screw eye to attach the shock cord to.
When assembling, be sure to line up the launch lugs between the fin piece and the intake piece.
It's easiest if you glue the motor can in and the fins on and THEN paint the inside area silver (including the BT-80 and the intake) before gluing the BT-80 and intake piece on. You can then mask off the ends and paint the rest.
This rocket is inherently UNSTABLE. You WILL need to wight the nose, especially if you build it short. Mine is 2/3 full of BB's. That sounds like a lot, but the nose cone is only an inch tall by an inch wide.
UPDATE 10/29/2018: Shortened the motor tube by 3mm when I did the remix for the Pringles version. This makes the spacer I originally included unnecessary.
FLIGHT REPORT:
Flew this on a C6-3. Very nice flight. Flew nice and straight. Landed in a tree. Dammit. But it works!
