This is a modification of the Pal Sphere originally uploaded by GearFox, please see the original below….
This remix aims to simplify the print of the Hollow, threaded version of GearFox's Pal Sphere, by separating the Bottom Half into two objects, the Threads, and the Sphere. Doing so allows for the Bottom hemisphere to be printed much liker the top half, with the flat face firmly planted on the print bed. This allows for a more stable first layer, lower overall object height, and less supports.
Printing Tips:
bottomHalf_sphere and bottomHalf_threads were originally part of the same object. You will need to rotate them 180 degrees around the X or Y axis to put them flat on the bed, as I'm providing them in their original orientation, to make it easier to edit them if you so desire.

I recommend using Organic Supports (on Print Bed only) and Scarf Seams on Contour surfaces.
Assembly:
While the interface joint between bottomHalf_sphere and bottomHalf_threads may appear to be symmetrical, it is actually slightly asymmentrical. Look carefully, one of the locking slots in the threads part isn't quite as wide as the others. Line it up with the corresponding feature in bottomHalf_sphere before inserting it. You should be able to insert it without too much pressure. If it's tight, try setting it on a table and pushing down with more force. Depending on your printer's dimensional accuracy, the parts may be snug, tight, or slightly loose with a small wobble. A small amount of super glue may help to correct such a wobble.

Once the two bottomHalf parts are assembled, simply screw the top-half on, and your Pal Sphere is complete!
Additional Threads Variants:
If bottomHalf_threads ends up a bit too wobbly and/or rattly for your taste, please try bottomHalf_threadsTight, under the AlternateThreads folder. The tolerance between the outer circle of the threads part, and the inner circle of the sphere part is the same, however small bumps have been added to the registration features on the threads part. These are intended to tighten the part once it's seated in its place.
