I got bored closing the blinds in the evening and opening them in the morning so I created a smart blind controlled via homeassistant using ESPHome. They had to be as cheap as possible and also reliable. That is why I went with a 180° servo instead of a continuous one. You can use continuous but I just didn't want to deal with timings and I wanted to have readings about the tilt of the blinds. The model uses only three screws which replace the ones already on the window in the thing in which the string balls are fixed and one on top of the model for fixing the two main parts together.
This new version address the visual side of this assembly on the windows since the black servo is covered and visible only from bellow. The servo slides in and clicks in to hold in place.
I unsoldered the original cable from the servo and soldered a 3x0.5mm copper wire to it, shortening it as needed.
Part list of absolute necessary parts for 3 windows:
- 1x ESP32 DEVKIT V1
- 3x MG995 Servo
- 1x 5V 2,5A Power Supply (min. 2A)
- 2x WAGO 221 5 Way
- 1x 3 chocolate connector
- 1x Electrical instalation box
- 6x Screws (Same size as the ones on the window but longer)
- 3x 3,5 x 15 TX15 screws
- Strong duble sided tabe or screws for the box
- 3 Core copper cable (I used overkill 3x0.5mm)
