I went on a trip to Sorrento a couple weeks ago and there was a shop with AMAZING chess sets for sale. In the middle of all of them, was this one. It features really simplistic shapes that actually tell you how to move the pieces!

And I immediately thought to myself: that would be so easy to design and 3D print! So yeah, half an hour later in Fusion 360 and this was the result!

The chessboard is 22cmx22cm so should fit on most printers although it also should scale down nicely (the 3mf I added is scaled down to 95% on X an Y which fits MK3 and MK4).

The Rook also has too versions, you can choose which one you like best. The original is a simple 20x20mm cube so I made a slightly fancier by adding some crenelles on top. 

I made the the chessboard so that we could print it with layer colour changes to get the different coloured squares. I also made the edges deeper than the rest, so technically you could print this in 3 different colours to get a pretty decent looking board without any hassle but a couple filament changes:

You can get some cool top effects as well using the top infill options in the slicer:

Also, to optimize printing time use variable layer height set to quality. The provided 3mf is set up as such.
