I really like the SwitchBot outdoor temperature and humidity sensor as it is, but I don’t have any shaded area to place mine.
As a result, direct sunlight affects the readings and makes it unreliable.
To solve this, I designed a simple Stevenson screen to provide shade. My goal was minimal print time and a solution that’s as close to 100% 3D-printable as possible.
The only extra parts you’ll need—besides the SwitchBot sensor itself—are two screws for wall mounting. Everything else is 3D-printed without the need for supports.
I printed all parts with 100% infill, using a 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.10 mm layer height.
The tolerances are fairly tight, so the more precise your printer, the better the final result.
The Stevenson screen consists of:
- 1x base.
- 2x middle segments.
- 1x top segment.
- 2x Screws.
