If you want a single part to hold all your different screwdrivers, this is for you!
This part can hold screwdrivers with a diameter from 1mm up to 8mm or more. It also works for files. To put your tool onto the wall, just use your tool to push open the grippers from below and then slide it into place. When you want your tool, you can just pull it from the wall.
This design uses compliant grippers oriented so the weight of the tool is providing the closing force. This way the grippers are less prone to creep problems. I tested for this problem by leaving my designs on the wall for more than a month before releasing the part-files here.
The part needs about 10 minutes of assembly, but 1.75mm filament is the only material used. I used dissimilar colored petg for good effect.

Printing instructions: I printed the parts in PETG with a 0.4mm nozzle and 15% rectilinear infill. You can use the 3mf-file gravity_tool_holder.3mf which includes all the parts for 1 assembled gravity toolholder, or you can use the individual stl-files.
To make one gravity toolholder you need:
- 1pcs: gt_holder
- 2pcs: gt_left_clamp
- 2pcs: gt_right_clamp
- 2pcs: gt_slide
- 4pcs: 20mm 1.75 filament
- 8pcs: 10mm 1.75 filament
The part gt_jig, makes the assembly much easier, but is not consumed in the process like the other parts:
Assembly instructions: Make sure you have all the parts needed from the list above. You also need the part gt_jig and a small hammer to install the filament pins.
- Put one gt_left_clamp and gt_right_clamp into the gt_jig with their round cylinder faces pointing upwards, and their flat face pointing down.
- Then put the two parts gt_slide into the jig.
- For the final layer, put one gt_left_clamp and one gt_right_clamp into the gt_jig, with their flat faces point upwards. The 4th picture shows the jig with the printed parts.
- Now put the 20mm 1.75 filament into the small holes, and use your hammer to get the filament flush with surface, one at a time.
- With the 4 long filament pins installed, you can then inserted the sub-assembly into the gt_holder. Push one side of the sub-assembly into the gt_holder, and then you can press the other side, like shown in the 5th picture.
- Use the 10mm filament to fix the assembly together. There are 4 pins on the front and 4 pins in the back of gt_holder, see 6th and 7th picture
