I really like the original. I added some M3 standoffs and holes for reset and flash as I was having some odd issues with the Deep Sleep (which by the way, works really well... without, 8-9 degree difference, with, 2-3 degree difference at 5 minutes sleep time).

Update 12/15/21: Slight variation of my NodeMCU boards caused some not to fit in lengthwise. Removed small edge at microUSB end.
