A cactus bud - It comes from a large cactus on a Nature Trail in Oceanside, California. Buds, some with a small flower, fall from the cactus. One was mounted in a small mound of clay and digitized. A Revopoint Pop 3 Plus 3D Scanner was used to create "cactus_bud.stl". The bud was covered with a sublimable white spray to make it visible to the scanner. The sublimable material dissipates on standing.

Three prints of the stl file are shown in one of the images above. To make the 3 color print the filament was changed from gray to green at 50% completion and again from green to red at 90% completion.
