Summary
This is a printable mount for the OnePlus One. Similarly to my Galaxy S4 Holder, it uses a snap mechanism at the bottom to hold the phone. There are two versions: one that fits the phone with no case, and another that fits over the OnePlus-made case. Whichever one you choose, it must be glued with ABS cement to the handlebar mount part.
I use this part to attach my phone to my bike handlebars so that I can control my music player while riding, but it is actually quite a general purpose design. The front piece is the complicated part, and it can be glued onto almost any other part you wish.
The Geomagic (formerly Alibre) Design source files are also available, if you want to modify it and are one of the 10 people who use Geomagic.
NOTE: I had some issues with the clip shearing off, so I uploaded version 2 with a much strengthened bottom clip.
Instructions
Materials
- 2 printed parts (see below)
- 2x M4x20 bolts (stainless steel preferred)
- 2x M4 nylock (nylon lock) nuts
- 2x M4 washers (preferred)
- ABS Cement (preferred), other types of glue may also work
NOTE: If you absolutely cannot get metric hardware, you could probably substitute equivalently sized English hardware.
What to Print
Select either the no case (for bare OnePlus Ones) or OEM case (for phones in the case sold by OnePlus) version of the holder stl file. Assuming you want to mount it on a standard bike handlebar, also print the bike handlebar mount file.
Assembly Instructions
-
Clean the parts up as necessary. Make sure your phone fits snugly into the tray; it should snap in with a click. Release the phone by pulling back the tab at the bottom, and then pushing the phone out with your finger through the hole in the bottom of the tray. The hole has been made bigger than on the Galaxy S4 version, so it should be a little easier this time. If you're using the OEM case, then it may get hung up on the lip on the bottom. You can either file this part of your case down, or just pull the tab a bit farther back when removing the phone.
-
The two handlebar-mount parts form a ring that fits snugly around the handlebar of your bike. One of the mount parts has a flat surface; glue this to the back surface of the tray part. To make this easier, I've added a recessed outline of where it should go to be in the horizontal and vertical center of the back, so just line it up with this. Note: By far the best way to glue these parts is by printing them in ABS and then using ABS cement to make the joint. This will actually weld the parts together and produce a joint that can't fail, ensuring that your phone remains securely attached to your bike, or whatever else you put it on.
-
Attach the part to the handlebar. Put the nuts in the nut capture openings in one of the handlebar mount parts. Put the bolts and washers through the other handlebar mount part and screw them together around your bike's handlebar where you want it. Tighten things down securely. Add a thin layer of rubber sheet or electrical tape between handlebars and mount if your mount needs extra grip.
- Stick your phone in the tray, and ride!
