Summary
Designed in OpenSCAD, this wand-shaped reading light was inspired by the Harry Potter series and was made for a friend as a going away gift. The casing comes in three parts, and houses a small blue LED, a 51 Ohm resistor, a tall tactile button, and two AAA batteries. The assembly included welding the top two parts together with spare filament and a soldering iron, but I will update with better tolerances soon. Feel free to paint and decorate however you'd like to make it your own. The wand stand was printed separately but fits the wand perfectly.

2 AAA batteries
1 small LED (color may vary)
1 51 Ohm resistor
1 tall tactile button

Spring or other metal device to make contact with batteries

Assembly:
- Print at .2 layer height, with 20-25% infill.
- Connect the LED to the resistor and a long wire (longer than 10 in.)
- Solder an additional wire an just longer than the tip piece to the resistor. This will attach to the button.
- Solder two thin strips of copper foil to the pins on the button, thes will allow easier connection to the rest of the circuit.
- Use tweasers or pliers to insert the button from the top of the shaft piece and through the hole above the full sphere.
- Use a generous amount of solder to connect the top foil piece to the plastic wall around it and let cool, securing the button in place.
connect the shorter wire from the tip to the top of the button and feed the long wire through the excess space in the tube. - Insert the AAA batteries from the bottom of the base
- Connect spring to wire at the bottom.
- Close cap over bottom to secure the spring against the batteries and complete the circuit.
- If the light works with the button push, hold the tip against the base and weld together using soldering iron. Insert a spare length of filament for a stronger weld.
