I’m a big fan of the original modular support designed by @bvdcode , but I wanted to tweak it for a better workflow and smoother filament feeding. This remix adds a few improvements to make the stand quite more functional and easy to use.
What’s new in this version:
Easier Maintenance: I added a 75mm segment that gives standard spools a bit more breathing room. It also includes a screwdriver hole, so you can easily screw or unscrew segments while using the screwdriver as a lever for better grip. Additionally the segment have a small mark as a guidance to have the same orientation for the all PTFE alignment parts.
Smoother Rotation: I’ve included washers to sit between the moving parts. This reduces friction, ensuring that spool spins freely without tension.
Direct Feeding: I added a PTFE Alignment Tool that is mounted between the segments. It keeps your tube perfectly lined up with the spool, reducing drag and making it easy to feed filament directly into your printer.
Modified Base: Added several mounting holes for feet. You can print these in TPU or any other filament and simply insert them into the dedicated holes underneath to stop the stand from sliding.
The handles are the original design by @bvdcode and remains unchanged. You can find more segments sizes on the original page
Printing Notes:
Supports: Still 100% support-free!
Material: PETG is recommended for the frame, but PLA works great too. (I actually printed my last few segments in PLA since I ran out of PETG, and it's holding up perfectly fine!)
⚠ Note on Fitment: The segment-75mm and the PTFE_Alignment_Tool fit each other quite snugly on my printer (which I personally prefer!).
Test first: To save time and filament, I suggest printing just a small section of the "PTFE_Alignment_Tool" to check the fit against the segment-75mm before committing to the entire batch!
If it does not fit: I recommend scaling the PTFE_Alignment_Tool up by 1% to 2% in your slicer.
