Introduction
This is not just another standard zip-tie mount. It features a clever, two-part design with a dedicated snap-on cover cap. When in use, it securely holds your cables and decorations just like any heavy-duty mount. But when the season ends, you simply snip the zip tie and snap the matching cap into place.
I designed this project out of a personal frustration. Every year, we hang a Christmas garland in the exact same spot in our home. While zip-tie mounts are perfect for the holidays, it always bothered me to look at ugly plastic squares or protruding screws on our living room wall for the remaining eleven months of the year.
With this design, the mount instantly transforms into a tiny, clean, and small puck. If you print it in the color of your wall, it virtually disappears.
I originally created this specifically for our seasonal holiday decorations, but I am really curious to see what other uses you might find for it. Whether it’s for organizing your desk, hiding cables behind the TV, or another clever project – I would love to see your makes and hear your ideas in the comments!

The Design
While the design and function are pretty self-explanatory, here is a quick guide on how to get the most out of this sleek mounting system.
1. Installation
Simply mount the base to your wall or furniture using a countersunk screw (and a wall plug/anchor if needed). Make sure the screw sits flush so it doesn't interfere with the cap later.
2. In Use
Thread your zip-tie through the two opposing slots in the base and secure your cables, garlands, or decorations.
Pro Tip: Use a pair of flush cutters to snip the zip-tie cleanly. This prevents sharp, protruding edges!
3. Hiding the Mount
When you no longer need the mount, simply cut and remove the zip-tie. Then, effortlessly snap the cover cap onto the base. Just make sure to align the small clips on the cap with the slots on the base.
4. Removing the Cap
When it’s time to decorate again, removing the cap is incredibly easy. Just insert a small flathead screwdriver into the subtle slot on the side of the cap and gently pry it off.
