Summary

This is a design for a low-cost 3d-printable shutter that can be mounted on an optical base plate. This is used for the AutoOpenRaman project at Arcadia Science. This design can be used to add a shutter to the OpenRAMAN spectrometer.

⚠️ Warning

Do not use this shutter with laser powers exceeding 4.5 mW.
Higher power lasers present a serious fire hazard and may damage the plastic components. This device is intended for low-power applications only and should always be used with appropriate laser safety protocols.

📦 What is included

• shutter-motor-holder.stl: 3D printed holder for the motor that can be fixed to a base plate
• shutter-paddle.stl: 3D printed paddle that will block laser light
• shutter-motor.stl: model of the motor for reference (it is not necessary to 3D print this)

🔧 Requirements

• Stepper motor (not included)
• Laser or other light source (not included)
• OpenRaman base plate (see build instructions, not included) to attach the shutter. Alternatively, any base plate with a 12 mm thickness and a 3.5 mm (M3) through-hole for mounting will work.
