Summary
Have issues if you plug a USB thumb stick, USB Drive, USB Dongle or other into a not well designed port and it causes issues like data problems, device resets, or cuts power? This will help.
I had an issue with several OTA adapters for FireTV, FireStick, Google Home, you name it. This should solve your issue by adding some gap. These poorly designed usb ports have contacts set too far forward and plugging the USB-A style plug all the way in will either cause an open or short in the contacts.
How I Designed This
Design and Dimensions:
Used Fusion360.
First failed design for this was exactly 12mm x 4.5mm for the usb plug and a depth of 4.1mm. The tolerance was too tight.
Second redesign I added a bit to allow a snug, but not too tight, so the opening is 12.4mm x 4.8mm.
