Bait Theory

These bait stations are designed to contain poisonous gels. Compared to solids (such as Combat or several other retail brands' bait stations), gels (semi-solids) are recommended against roaches since they have more moisture content and thus are more attractive. This becomes important in situations where other foods may be present (a competing food source problem). Also, some commercial gels are said to have a better (more attractive) substrate (bait matrix) than the retail gels.

Applying the gels from a tube or syringe on the surface without a bait station has an advantage of putting a small quantity of the product directly into crevices where roaches may hide. The disadvantage is a potential mess this might create and cleanup difficulty once the gel dries.

In addition to the baits, using Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), such as Gentrol, is also recommended. IGRs do not directly kill the insects but do not allow them to reach maturity and lay eggs.

Bait Station Sizes

For the "normal" German roaches, a square 27x27 mm bait station with 8 mm height is sufficient. I will upload both two- and four-entry versions of this small bait station, you can decide which one to use.

If you need larger insect entries (American roaches), select a larger station size. There is a 35x32x12 bait station, with three entries. If placing this station along the baseboard, place the "blind" side against it.

Printing and Assembly

The base is printed right side up, the lid upside down. No supports. A few sets of bases and lids can be printed at once.

Once printed, put the lid on the base and press together all four corners of the station until they click. There is a narrow groove between the lid and the base of the station to make disassembly easier. This groove should be even once the bait station is assembled.
